Have a Merry Sproutmas with the World’s First Sprout-Powered Musical Instrument

They’ve always polarised opinion at Christmas – but now everyone can celebrate the humble Brussels sprout with the world’s first online sprout-powered musical instrument.

The Sproutboard BS -1.1 is a fun, free online game where you can rattle out some Yuletide songs to feast your ears on and delight family and friends this festive season.

Using your keyboard, you can follow instructions to play We Wish you a Merry Sproutmas, A Sprout in a Manger, Silent Sprout and Rudolph the Sproutnosed Reindeer, though you are free to improvise your own Christmas tunes.

The Sproutboard features 29 individual sprouts for each key and when pressed, they make a trump noise for that specific note – because everyone knows that’s the sound a sprout makes.

The merry site has been created by London-based advertising agency Soul, whose clients include House of Fraser, Michael Kors, Avios, SSE and Parker Knoll.

Rather than their capacity to clear a room in seconds, Soul decided to celebrate the little green monsters and show them in a fun and positive light that even sprout haters will enjoy.

We might eat more than a billion of them in the UK every year but they’ve certainly never sounded so good!
